1. The
first question all our readers want answered, why the
decision to name the game after yourself (personal ego
issues aside)?
Well, it felt like it was the cherry on top of my Paintball
career. It's also important, like using real names from
other sports in video games, like Madden, or Woods,
or Hawk. It adds credibility to the game among the Paintballers.
Plus, we financed this game ourselves and many of our
investors did not want to invest unless my name was
on the cover. I worked hard over the last 17 years of
my career to keep a solid reputation. I put over two
years of my life into this and it's a dream come true!
2. What developers and designers did you work with on
this project and how did you find them, or did they
find you?
Our development team is WXP from Seattle (www.wxp3d.com).
I found them by total chance and the timing could not
have been better. They had just shipped Lord of the
Rings and had time to pick up our project. We are partners
in this game and every game in this new franchise.

3.
Tell us about some of the process of creating the game.
Did you bring in professional players for motion capture
and model animation?
Every single person who
touched this game is a paintball player. Even the team
at WXP learned to play and enjoy this sport. We also
brought many of our feature players up to Seattle to
brainstorm about what was possible in this game.
We did not MoCap anyone in this first version, because
we financed this game ourselves, and it was more important
to spend money on programming and art, rather than this
expensive process. Plus, the animation of the characters
is awesome anyway. Jeff Connelly did all the animation
and he really stuck it. His real life experiences went
right into the designs!
4.
What is going to be the main targeted market for this
game? Are
we going to be able to find it in all major video game
retail stores like EB Games or in Walmarts, and what
about paintball stores that want to sell the game as
well? Since nothing like this has ever been tried on
a mainstream level, you differently have to be thinking
outside the box (the Xbox, that is. POO!)
|

|
|
|
 |

 |
|
Oh yeah, it will be in
all the major chains. Plus it will be available in retail
Paintball stores as well. Marketing this game to the
Paintball public seemed easy, because we already had
30 licensed players,
|
 |
|
|
|
over
150 real licensed products in the game and game play
is just like playing the real thing, only without the
lumps. We went and demo’ed this game
to real gamers as well. We found the top Halo players
and even got a hold of the World Champ. Guys like Zyos,
and JMB.
These guys are the heroes of the gamer world. They said
that GHTP was "more fun than Halo 2". I did not say
it. Gamers said it. The top gamers! They never picked
up paintball gun in their life. This was huge for us
as it was important for non-Paintballers to like this
game. We stuck it!
5.
There’s been a lot of Internet talk about the "cheat
meter" being used in the game. Is there a possibility
that maybe gamers new to paintball or with little experience
might be influenced to cheat during a real game if they
can cheat during the video game?
Who knows. I do know that every single person
who has played this game, thinks the cheat meter is
the coolest thing ever. It's a first for video games.
We have many features that are ground breaking!!! It
really adds to the fun factor!!!

6.
Describe some of the special features of the game to
our readers. What kind of skills/techniques will be
able to utilize on the field (snap-shooting, switching
hands, sliding).
Well, it's just like the real thing. Snap shooting left,
right as well as up and down, diving, "quick look",
switching hands. It's all about manipulating your character
for the best shooting angle and maximizing your exposure
to your opponent. The game is also geared towards being
able to keep track of your team mates.
What would you say, if I told you, that you could be
on the right side of the field shooting across to the
left 50, and at the same time, you can snap up and take
a "quick look" up field and never come off shooting
your target? It is truly a Paintball game that will
allow fans of first person shooters to enjoy features
never before used in video games.
7.
How does the trigger system work?
Will
guns "bounce" in order to shoot fast or will it be a
simple trigger pull on the Xbox controller = one shot
of the gun? Hardcore paintball players are definitely
going to want to feather that trigger during the online
Xbox Live games. I know they will not be disappointed!!
Well, depending on the marker you have selected, each
gun shoots, sounds and performs just like the real thing.

You
don't get the best gear right away. You must earn your
equipment and shop for new stuff in our stores during
single player mode. Yes, the trigger ramps on the best
guns to allow for maximum fire power. The Karnivor is
sick!! All the top gear is available to you during X
Box Live play.
8.
How many different companies licensed their name and
product likeness for the game? Will we be able to outfit
our custom players in real brand new equipment from
head to toe?
Yup!! We have almost every major company in our game!!
I even put my new brand into the game. R7 is my new
brand and you will be able to see everything and use
all my new designs in the game before it is available
in real retail paintball shops. We have everyone from
JT to WGP to Mantis, to Severe!! Hundreds of real world
equipment from shoes, to goggles, to markers, barrels,
the list is goes on and on.
9. How many different field layouts will be avaliable
and, like the equipment, will we be seeing any real
world fields?
Hundreds of fields!! A dozen real world locations and
yes, we have used real fields like Skirmish USA, Huntington
Beach NPPL, Pev's Paintball Park, Splatter Park in Ohio,
and many more.

10.
From all the pro players that have played the game so
far, who is the best at the game, and who should stop
playing it altogether?
HMMM. So far the best I have seen is Alex Fraige, and
Chris Lasoya. Although, Chris got a "3 for 1" at the
competition in LA last week. Keely is real good too.
This is a tough question. I'd say that Oliver Lang was
the worst, but he said he does not really play video
games. That's ok, he more than makes up for this deficiency
on the real fields!! Nicky Cuba is sick at it too. I
think we may have a real good clan in the making:-)
11. With all the first person shooters out there, and
with Halo 2 debuting in the same month as your game,
what do you feel that GHTP is offering that'll be new
and refreshing to get gamers to pick up a copy?
Well, it has a lot going for it. Our game has at least
4 features that have never been used in a video game
before this. It is the fastest shooter game on the market!
It emulates real Paintball action, but will totally
please non-ballers with its speed, intensity, and adrenaline
for sure.
It has received nothing but the highest praises from
the Top Halo Players in the world and hundred of kids
have already played it and love it. The top guys at
X Box told us that it could be "the sleeper hit of the
year!!!" Activision has told us that at the buyer shows,
GHTP has been getting "more attention that any other
shooter game that is scheduled for release this season".
